Mother's Day and May Specials! - Kim Binfield Photography - Marin Family and Child Photographer

May is for Mothers as we near Mother's Day here in the US. To celebrate this special time in our lives, join me for a session during the month of May and we'll create beautiful photos, many that also have you in them! Expecting a baby soon... have your maternity photos taken. Specials will be offered on both types of sessions.

My girls are now 6 and 8 and I treasure this photo my husband took of the three of us in Tiburon more and more each year. It is actually kind of an outtake as our toddler was running around a bit (imagine that!) but that is what I like about it. It is real and I like the candid, lifestyle feel of it. My youngest was about 6-months-old and she is just the cutest little puff ball in this photo. My oldest still has the same smile as she does in this photo, reminding me of her younger self.

We're only mothers of young children for a short time in our lives. Be sure to get in there and be in the photos with them.

Maternity Photo Session -- Kim Binfield Photograhy -- San Francisco and Marin Maternity Photographer

A little pre-Mothers Day post this morning of a recent maternity session. This mom is a friend of mine from high school that I was so happy to connect with and meet up in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park for her maternity photos. She is a scientist and will also be a very special mom to one lucky little girl who was born just over a week ago now. Enjoy those baby cuddles, the waiting is over!

An early Happy Mother's Day wish this year. Today's post celebrates the excitement of expecting a new baby. The mother from this maternity session is expecting her first baby. Baby brother arrives - Larkspur Family Photographer - Kim Binfield Photography

Today's post is Part II after this beautiful maternity session. Mom, Dad and the two brothers are now settling in nicely together as a unit of 4. It is always wonderful to get to meet the new arrival following a maternity session. Studio look -- Maternity Photos Marin Photographer

This post is Part II from this session. In addition to the beautiful photos on location in their home, we took some shots also in their home using the same window light with my portable backdrop set up. It simply consists of a light weight backdrop stand, clips and a black backdrop. I can set this up in almost any room at a client's home that receives at least a decent amount of window light. The look is similar to what you would get with a softbox and expensive lighting set up, yet it is quick to set up, light weight and low cost.

Here are the portraits we created. For the client, this adds a completely different look and feel to their main set of session images - basically like having two sessions in one!

Sibling on the way -- Maternity and Pregnancy Photographer in Marin

I love the images from this session last weekend. Lovely family with a toddler boy who has the bluest of blue eyes and is definitely ready to play with his soon-to-be sibling :) This session was at the client's home with beautiful natural light from their large north and west facing windows.











During this same session we also took photos with my portable backdrop and stands. Look for a post with those images in the next day or so.

I also want to say thank you to my clients who let me share in a bit of their lives and take photos for them of their memorable events and growing families. It means a lot to me and I appreciate each of you!

Summer Session Maternity Photos -- Marin Family Photographer

This was an absolutely stunning session. I'll let the photos speak for themselves and I think you'll see what I mean! This second time mom was absolutely glowing and was very happy to have completed the session before the baby's arrival due this month.

What I'm Up To - Marin and San Francisco Portrait Photographer

Welcome to 2010. It's a brand new year and I'm busily working away in Tiburon, during these very rainy weeks, on my ..... brand NEW website! Yes, I'm very excited about it. The site will be going live within the next couple weeks.

I'm learning all kinds of geeky computer things. This teeny tiny image is called a favicon: I created it using a part of my logo in Photoshop. It is a small image that appears up on the internet browser tab next to Kim Binfield Photography when you're viewing my new site.

Maternity Portraits

With Mother's Day approaching May 10th, today I'm posting a couple maternity session photos. Maternity sessions can have a studio look as shown here either at my home or at yours with my portable studio set up. Portraits can also be taken on location amongst trees and grasses or along sandy beaches. Whatever you think up, we'll create beautiful images for you to have of your pregnancy.

Maternity sessions are best scheduled for your 7th and 8th month of pregnancy.

Movie Making 101

Kim Binfield Photography is now showing in the movies!! Well, ok, we've got our portfolio of portraits being broadcast on YouTube.com but we're still pretty pleased about it :) See our movie here on YouTube or play it on the video screen below:



You too can have your images (of your family, flower photos, travels, teapot collection, whatever you can think up!) made into a "movie" and then broadcast on YouTube. There are many ways to do this, but this is how I did it...

I selected portraits from the last few years of Kim Binfield Photography that I wanted to feature in my movie. The portraits were digital photos in .jpeg format. I also created a few .jpegs in Photoshop for the title and end pages to display the name of my business and website and treated them just like the portrait images when making the movie (basically a slideshow).

Next, I browsed the help files on YouTube and found this article that took me through the process step by step. My computer happened to come with Windows Movie Maker software on it, though there are a number of similar programs that will do the same thing for you. YouTube has numerous other help articles you can also refer to until you are saying "That's a Wrap" on your film too. Happy Movie Making!!

and the Oscars go to...

Well ok they're not Oscar winners, but they're my very favorite photos from 2008 portrait sessions! I enjoyed looking back through the cute newborns, babies, kids and families that I had the pleasure of photographing last year. We had many wonderful sessions at beaches, parks, urban settings, and homes. I also couldn't resist including my most loved photos of my daughters from 2008, look for them in the last two photos :)
