Spent a cozy morning with this 12-day-old baby boy, his big sister and his parents. He stayed asleep almost the entire time. Having babies fed, warm and sleepy makes for lovely newborn photos. Newborn sessions are generally best between day 6 and 14. Enjoy this dose of newborn cuteness!

Farewell sweet summer -- Kim Binfield Photography -- Larkspur and Marin Family Photographer

While it's still VERY hot here in California, the girls are back in school and we are awaiting the arrival of cooler Autumn temperatures. My girls are in second and fourth grade this year (I can't believe it!!) and are enjoying the start of new dance and soccer seasons.

I'm energized by the changing season and have lots planned for the coming weeks and months ahead at Kim Binfield Photography ... look for holiday photo announcements, a new type of session, model calls and more...

Mother's Day and May Specials! - Kim Binfield Photography - Marin Family and Child Photographer

May is for Mothers as we near Mother's Day here in the US. To celebrate this special time in our lives, join me for a session during the month of May and we'll create beautiful photos, many that also have you in them! Expecting a baby soon... have your maternity photos taken. Specials will be offered on both types of sessions.

My girls are now 6 and 8 and I treasure this photo my husband took of the three of us in Tiburon more and more each year. It is actually kind of an outtake as our toddler was running around a bit (imagine that!) but that is what I like about it. It is real and I like the candid, lifestyle feel of it. My youngest was about 6-months-old and she is just the cutest little puff ball in this photo. My oldest still has the same smile as she does in this photo, reminding me of her younger self.

We're only mothers of young children for a short time in our lives. Be sure to get in there and be in the photos with them.

Lots of fun at this late afternoon session with these two sisters for holiday photos last year. I have photographed this family through the years before little sister came on the scene. It's wonderful watching families grow and getting to create memories for them. These two sisters are about three years apart and little sister enjoyed passing out pretend treats to her big sister and being in charge!

Holiday cards, thanks and wishes -- Kim Binfield Photography

A note tonight to thank my lovely clients and everyone who supports me in getting to be creative and make memories for families. I have enjoyed seeing all of the holiday cards this year and my girls have enjoyed taking turns opening them - mostly without fighting ;)  The ones from my clients are especially heartwarming and fun to be a part of and to you again I say Thank You!!

Here's part of our card for this year. I had it printed at my lab on my favorite pearl paper and it turned out even dreamier than I'd hoped. A thank you to my girls also for putting up with having a photographer for a Mom.

As the year closes out, I wish everyone a very happy holiday. Cuddle up with those little ones!

For my first post of 2013 I will be -- catching up on last year! I'm excited to share with you a couple more sessions from 2012. This session is a family with three sisters that I've been lucky enough to photograph three times now. You can "watch them grow" here and here. This big sister always shows up with the best accessories! I've photographed her a few times now and this year's session was no exception. Her pink cowgirl boots lent the perfect combination of attitude and elegance. Fun! Little sister, with her satin silver and gold shoes, is definitely following her sister's lead.
